OBJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT

Ikura pouch

ikura.png

Development of laminated reclaimed bubble wrap pouch. The air cells collapse when heat fused, but retain their plump round form, much like Ikura (Japanese salmon roe). This protective pouch is a proof of concept which we are working on expanding into a whole range of protective sleeves, pouches and bags, perfect for storing electronics, toiletries or camera equipment.

Gherpe lamp

gherpe invert.png

As part of our collaboration with Superstudio U.S., we have been reverse engineering their Gherpe lamp from 1967.

The original piece is made of six acrylic petals which fan out around a central pivot to which a lighting element is affixed.

We are developing alternative materials to virgin acrylic, and are using the organizational logic of the Gherpe as a base for material experimentation.

Geiger bag

Experiment using bonded dropsheet (HDPE) and half a found car fan belt (EPDM). This bucket bag is inspired by HG Giger’s teratology (study of monsters)

Morphologies

Experimental morphologies, 3D printed, molded, carved, fused, cast, agglomerated. We treat these objects as prototypes which inform our designs by determining the best tools and techniques to apply to our composite materials.
